Design thinking and mechanical engineering – how does this go together?

This question was posed to us by the magazine of the VDMA, Europe’s largest industrial association, in which many mostly medium-sized companies in the capital goods industry are brought together.

In issue 07/2017 of the VDMA Magazine everything revolves around innovation. Due to the increasing digitalisation of classical mechanical engineering, this topic has become even more important in recent years. Together with our client Festo, a component manufacturer with whom we have been planning and implementing agile innovation projects in mechanical engineering for a number of years, we have described in the VDMA magazine that the world of mechanical engineering is very well suited to modern innovation approaches such as design thinking or lean startup, if one takes into account some special aspects.
